Printmaking
Intaglio is drawing with incised marks on plates using etching and engraving techniques that will eventually hold ink for printmaking. Along with intaglio techniques, I use chine collé, with new materials or imagery. Sometimes I salvage interesting passages from unsuccessful prints to combine with new pieces. My prints pass through the press many times before they are completed. This keeps the printmaking process fresh and challenging.
The plates used for intaglio are copper, zinc and plexiglass sheets. Most of my prints are monoprints (one-of-a-kind prints), although I have printed editions.
